Welcome to Chebeague

How do you say Chebeague?

This site is meant to give the viewer an insider's look at
Chebeague Island - specifically, through the children who attend the Chebeague Island School. The school serves as the center of community interest on the island. Islanders have a rich history, with connections going back many generations.

As one of only a handful of Maine islands with year round residents, Chebeague has its own unique community, geography and history.

This website was created in the spring of 2005 as a collaborative effort between students at Bowdoin College and the Chebeague Island School. The content for this site was inspired by the third-fifth graders who attend the island school. Bowdoin College students, as part of a service learning project for their class entitled the "Anthropology of Islands", designed and built the website. The project was made possible through important connections made by the Island Institute and LobtserTales project.

Please contact the Chebeague Island School before using any photographs or written content from this site.
